Columbia Inspired

Musical Aviary

Take flight with a program that celebrates music’s winged inspirations.

Take flight with a program that celebrates music’s winged inspirations. Respighi’s The Birds transforms Baroque melodies into a playful aviary, with each movement capturing the flutter, call, and charm of different birds. Weber’s Bassoon Concerto follows, showcasing the instrument’s warm voice and quick wit in a piece full of character and sparkle. The concert closes with Haydn’s Symphony No. 83, nicknamed “The Hen” for its clucking rhythms and lively humor—a perfect example of the composer’s genius for wit and surprise.

This concert is on Saturday, November 22 at 7:30pm at Christ Episcopal Church.  Tickets are available for purchase at columbiaorchestra.org or by calling 410.465.8777.
