Anegada Definitely Delights
We want to introduce you to Lebert, and his lovely wife Elizabeth Vanterpool, the owners of Anegada Delights Caribbean Cuisine. Anegada Delights offers everything from jerk chicken, oxtail brown stew, curry chicken, and rice and peas…and let’s not forget the sorrel! Ask for the sorrel, if you like something sweet and gingery, we promise you will thank us. This hidden gem has been in Columbia since March of 2018 and is located at 9861 Broken Land Parkway, Suite 151, Columbia, MD 21046.
Lebert is grateful to have been raised on Anegada Island in the British Virgin Islands. The Vanterpools have been living in Howard County with their family since 2010. Lebert is, not only the owner, but he is also the head chef and loves serving their customers! They were initially vendors at the local Oakland Mills Farmers’ Market, where they served breakfast and lunch every Sunday during the market season. The first Anegada Delights opened in Hagerstown, Maryland, in 2014, and their Columbia location opened in March of 2018.
Partnership is a tradition for the Vanterpool’s, and they have partnered with various organizations like the ARC of Howard County and Humanim. These organizations provide support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To date, Anegada Delights has trained and employed over ten individuals from this community. They are looking to extend their program by adding a mobile food service training component and other hospitality skills. Through their training program, Lebert and Elizabeth hope to make a difference in the community by providing opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. In addition, the couple hopes to lead by example, encouraging other employers in Howard County to see the value of hiring from this community.
Anegada Delights is open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner. Support this locally-owned family business that believes in giving back to its community.
